Our house is in Goshen, Vermont, on the edge of the Green Mountain National Forest, steps from the Moosalamoo National Recreation Area.
We are just 5 minutes from cross-country skiing and snowshoeing in the winter and biking/hiking/trail running in the summer at the Blueberry Hill Outdoor Center; dining, music, and events at the charming Blueberry Hill Inn; and wild berry picking at the Goshen Blueberry Management Area. Golfing is just 10 minutes away at Neshobe Golf Club. Downhill skiing is nearby at Middlebury Snowbowl (20 minutes), Pico Mountain (40 minutes), Killington (50 minutes), and Mad River Glen (1 hour). The Rikert Outdoor Center in Ripton offers even more winter activities, including cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and fat-biking (18 minutes). Several VAST snowmobile trails are also nearby.
For swimming, paddleboarding, boating, and fishing, we’re 2 miles from Silver Lake in the Green Mountain National Forest, or a 15 minute drive to Lake Dunmore and Branbury State Park. Local rivers such as the Neshobe River, Middlebury River and Otter Creek are popular for trout fishing.
Our 17+ acre property also gives you space to roam on trails around the house in the middle of the Moosalamoo Recreation Area in the Green Mountain National Forest. Terrific star-gazing and mountain views from our deck and fire pit.
Although we are in the middle of the forest, we are just a quick 15 minute drive to Brandon where you’ll find a Hannaford’s grocery store, Walgreens drug store, a top-notch bakery (Morningside Bakery and Cafe), stellar nanobrewery (Red Clover), and French restaurant (Cafe Provence). 20 minutes east is the charming town of Rochester, with more cafes and restaurants, plus a bookstore and quirky bike shop (ask to see their drawbridge!). Just 35 minutes in either direction to Middlebury and Rutland for even more shopping and eating options.
